Campground Licences

Do I need to register my camping ground?

Camping grounds are required to be registered and inspected under the Health (Registration of Premises) Regulations 1966.

All camping grounds must comply with the Camping Grounds Regulations 1985 before a licence can be issued.

Opening a new camping ground

Before you apply for a licence, contact Council's Environmental Health Officer on (03) 307 7700 to discuss your licensing requirements.

Change of ownership

If you are taking over an existing camping ground, you must notify Council and complete a transfer of licence form.

You can apply to transfer an existing registration into your name, but we must receive your application within 14 days of you taking over the business.

After 14 days, the existing registration will lapse and you will have to apply for a new licence.

If the business is not registered, you will need to apply for a new licence.

Renew your registration

Licences need to be renewed every year.  If you are currently registered, you will automatically receive a renewal invoice.
