Allenton water upgrade may lower pressure

Some parts of Allenton may experience low water pressure on Tuesday 1 July, while critical connections are made for a UV upgrade at the Argyle Park water treatment plant.
The pipework connections are being performed from 10am until about 3pm.
The areas most affected by the low pressure are likely to be the upper Allenton area - all properties above Allens Road heading towards Farm Road.
Other parts of Allenton may also see a reduced pressure at the tap however, safe water will continue to flow for all of Ashburton.
A shutdown will be needed in the coming weeks which may also affect water pressure.
Construction of the additional utilities building began in February and has caused little disruption to Argyle Park users.
The work zone is fenced off and the project is expected to be completed in November.
There are two deep bores at Argyle Park that supply water to Allenton and the wider Ashburton network.
Council is also upgrading and adding UV disinfection at water treatment plants on its other community schemes to help meet the Drinking Water Quality Assurance Rules.
