Road Closures

Many local organisations hold activities or events which require the temporary closure of sections of the district roads.  Occasionally construction projects being undertaken in various locations around the Ashburton District also require temporary road closures.

    LE BRETONS ROAD
    From 13 September 2025, 8.00 am to 13 September 2025, 5.30 pm
    Affected Roads:

    Le Bretons Road, between Christys Road and Denshires Road South

    Chertsey Road for 2km from Le Bretons Road

    Reason for Closure:

    Event - Gravel Bent Sprint Meeting

    LINE ROAD
    From 10 September 2025, 6.00 am to 1 October 2025, 6.00 pm
    Affected Roads:

    Line Road, between Dolma Street and McCloys Road

    Closure Detail:

    Please Note: Dates are indicative at this point for this stage with all going to plan.

    These closures are to be in place for 24 hours a day. Roads to be re-opened once works have been completed or when safe to do so.

    Stage 2 - Wastewater renewals

    Detour Option(s):

    Line Road, Methven Chertsey Road, Cairnbrae Road

    MCCLOYS ROAD (ONE-WAY)
    From 10 September 2025, 6.00 am to 1 October 2025, 6.00 pm
    Affected Roads:

    No Entry from Methven Chertsey Road. Restricted to one-way traffic entering from Line Road and exiting out onto Methven Chertsey Road.

    Closure Detail:

    LINE ROAD

    Line Road, between Dolma Street and Methven Chertsey Road

    Closure Detail:

    These closures are to be in place for 24 hours a day. Roads to be re-opened once works have been completed or when safe to do so.

    Reason for Closure:

    Stage 1 - Wastewater renewals

    Detour Option(s):

    Traffic will be detoured via Methven Chertsey Road and McCloys Road

    Dolma Street, Main Street (SH77), and Methven Chertsey Road

    KING STREET, ALEXANDER STREET
    From 3 February 2025, 6.00 am to 13 September 2025, 6.00 pm
    Affected Roads:

    King Street and Alexander Street, between High Street and Chertsey Kyle Road

    Closure Detail:

    Closure will not impact Chertsey School access
