Have you ever wondered how the water quality of the Ashburton Lakes/Ōtūwharekai is monitored or what is being done to improve the health of the lakes’ ecosystem for our native species?
The Ashburton District Council is advising residents on the Mayfield water supply that a level four water restriction is now in place until further notice.
Residents now have two new vantage points to view Ashburton District. An interactive kerbside collection map and the release of the latest urban aerial imagery showing properties and landscape.
Council will have a stall at this year’s Positive Ageing Expo and staff will be armed with information about a range of subjects, from rates rebates to over-80s parking, kerbside recycling and civil defence.
Residents wishing to donate to flood and cyclone affected areas in the North Island can deposit into the Council’s official Westpac bank account (03-1592-0521970-04) that was originally set up by Council for the Auckland flood event in January.
Promoting the Ashburton District to visitors has become a direct Council role, after Christchurch NZ withdrew from a three-year contract to provide visitor promotion for the district.
Council has adopted a conservation management plan for Ashburton’s historic rail footbridge and will seek funding assistance for the identified maintenance and renewal work, including the restoration of the central steel truss.
A by-election is required to fill an extraordinary vacancy for a councillor for the Western Ward. The vacancy has arisen from the recent death of Cr Rodger Letham.

On Fridays for the rest of the season the pool will be open from 4-7pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays it will open from 2-5pm. Mondays to Thursdays the pool will be closed, and from Monday, 6 March the Tinwald Community Pool will be closed for the season.
