Ashburton Civil Defence has deactivated its emergency operations centre, though staff continue to keep an eye on flooding and other issues related to the orange alert rain event that affected the district this week.
The Ashburton District Council has issued a precautionary boil water notice for the Mount Somers water supply, effective immediately. It comes as a result of poor weather causing high turbidity in the scheme.
Additional roads have been closed around the Ashburton district because of flooding associated with the rain event and these are being updated on the live road closures map.
Several roads in the district will be closed tonight (Monday 18 July) as contractors clear trees that have fallen in the high winds and blocked lanes.
The Ashburton Resource Recovery Park and the Rakaia Resource Recovery Park are both closed this morning because of high winds.
Eight unhealthy Ash trees on the East Street green opposite Farmers will be carefully removed by contractors on Thursday 21 July.
The Dromore water supply will be shut down for two hours on Monday 18 July whilst contractors work on electrical equipment at the Dromore water treatment plant.
Regular visitors to the Ashburton Domain will have noticed a new garden under construction.
