Council meeting on 5 October to begin at earlier time

The final meeting of the current Ashburton District Council will start early next Wednesday 5 October, at 10.30am, and include farewell speeches from four retiring Councillors.
Crs John Falloon, Diane Rawlinson, Angus McKay and Stuart Wilson are not seeking re-election in the local elections and the meeting on 5 October will be their final one. The make-up of the new council, mayor and Methven Community Board will be known after voting ends at noon on Saturday 8 October.
Wednesday’s meeting will open at 10.30am and go straight into the public excluded agenda. Items on the public agenda will be discussed from 1pm, followed by farewell speeches from the retiring councillors.
The agenda for Wednesday’s meeting will be online at ashburtondc.govt.nz on Monday 3 October, and the meeting will be livestreamed on Council’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
