Repairs underway for damaged stockwater intakes

High rainfall in the foothills over the weekend has led to Pudding Hill and Methven Auxiliary stockwater intakes being washed out on Sunday, resulting in reduced stockwater flows across the Methven to Chertsey areas.
Group Manager of Infrastructure Neil McCann said that Council crews have been onsite assessing the situation, and investigations have confirmed extensive damage.
“In several locations, stream paths have shifted and intake channels have been inundated, meaning reinstatement work will be significant.”
“Work is progressing as quickly as conditions allow. Stockwater supply from the Pudding Hill intake is expected to begin returning later today. The Methven Auxiliary intake is likely to be reinstated tomorrow at the earliest.”
The Council encourages all stockwater users who use on these water sources to make use of alternative water supplies during this period.
