Overnight disruption for Hinds water supply

The Hinds drinking water supply will be temporarily shutdown overnight (Wednesday 5 February) between the hours of 11pm and 3am, to allow for urgent repairs following the discovery of a leak in a watermain at the water treatment plant earlier today.
Contractors have traced the cause of the leak back to a damaged pipe and are attempting to put a temporary repair in place, until a proper shutoff and repair can take place later tonight.
It's possible that residents will experience low water pressure and other issues during the course of the afternoon.
Infrastructure Services Group Manager Neil McCann encouraged residents to put aside some water in the afternoon for use during the repairs.
"During the shutdown, the plant will not be treating and supplying water to any connections on the Hinds supply.
“Residents many wish to set aside some drinking water, or water to flush toilets. We’re sorry for the disruption and our team will be working to get the service restored as quickly as possible.”
A water tanker has also been stationed on the rugby grounds at the Hinds Domain, allowing residents to fill their own containers with drinking water.
Council will keep residents updated on progress via the Council’s website, Facebook page and the 4196 text alert service.
