Short water shutdown for Philip and Walker Streets

Properties inside the red outline will have their water supply affected by the watermain shutdown on Monday 18 August.
Properties on Philip Street and Walker Street will have a short water shutdown on Monday 18 August as part of work by Council contractors to renew water pipes in the area.
Rooney Earthmoving is doing the work and has advised affected properties by letter about the shutdown, which begin at 9am and be for no more than six hours. The shutdown will not affect Ashburton Hospital.
Households that need water during the shutdown should store some in containers for drinking or in buckets for flushing the toilet.
The wider pipe renewal project involves the installation of new water mains on Philip Street, between Oak Grove and Grigg Street. Work during the shutdown will be at the intersection of Philip and Walker Streets, which is currently closed to traffic.
Water should start flowing within a few minutes of the shutdown ending, however it may take a couple of minutes for the water to be completely clear and free of air.
