Those who want to vote in the local elections must make sure they are enrolled. Having your name and correct details on the electoral roll by 1 August means you will receive voting papers in the mail.

If you enrol or update your address after 1 August, you won’t get your voting papers sent to you in the mail – you’ll need to contact Council’s electoral officer and make a special vote.

To enrol, go to vote.nz, or text your name and address to 3676, or call the Electoral Commission on 0800 36 76 56, or email enquiries@elections.govt.nz. The last day you can enrol to is Friday 10 October.
