Domain soaks up jazz vibes

Sunshine, jazz music and good company combined for a successful Live on the Lawn event at the Ashburton Domain.
Several hundred people, armed with blankets and deck chairs, pulled up a spot on the Long Lawn off West Street and enjoyed the afternoon.
Live bands The Curio Club, Swing 42 and Garden City Combo provided the vibes, and several food trucks were planted around the grounds selling treats.
Staff will now consider feedback from lawn-goers, with a view to making it an annual event - featuring different music genres.
Group Manager of Compliance and Development Ian Hyde said it was great that the weather had played ball and that had encouraged people to come out and enjoy the afternoon.
"It's a great platform for future events and we hope everyone that came along had a good time."
The next free Council community event is Glow in the Park, which is sponsored once again by EA Networks.
Glow in the Park will be at the Ashburton Domain over King's Birthday weekend and promises to be another great event.
