Council stockwater update: 20 February 2024

With the El Nino weather pattern dominating summer and causing declining flows in the stockwater network, Council is providing regular updates for stockwater users.

River levels in both Pudding Hill Stream and the North Ashburton are continuing to drop – there is no more water available to take with the level the streams are currently at.
We advise people in the Chertsey, Somerton Road and associated areas that the flows are continuing to reduce significantly, and the flows may drop off completely.
We recommend that people monitor the level of water in their races and seek alternative water for their livestock should the flow stop.
This is likely to continue until significant rain is received.
The rangers will continue to monitor and keep what water they can flowing as far as possible over the coming days.
