Waka Kotahi: SH1 Tinwald night works from Sunday 23 July for a week

Published: 19 July 2023

From Waka Kotahi: We will be working overnight on the SH1 Tinwald Corridor Improvements from Sunday 23 July for about a week. The work is weather dependent and may need to be rescheduled to following nights.

What are we doing?

From Sunday 23 July, for approximately one week, between 6pm and 7am, we will be working to install the ducting across Lagmhor Road and SH1, to begin the process of installing the ducts for the new traffic signals.

The work is being undertaken at night when traffic volumes are lower to minimise congestion and disruption. It is also safer for our work crews and road users.

Night works and what to expect

The crew need lights to see what they are working on so you may notice extra light in the area. There will be unavoidable noise from trucks, machinery and the crew.

We know that night works are disruptive to residents. Our team will limit this disruption as much as possible. We will aim to carry out the noisiest work early in the shift and we will complete the work as quickly as we can.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts

Between 6pm and 7am on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 July, Lagmhor Road will be closed at the intersection with SH1.

From Tuesday 25 July for the remaining three shifts (between 6pm and 7am), the Lagmhor Rd/ SH1 intersection will be temporarily controlled by traffic lights.

Please look out for our staff and follow their instructions. Footpath access around our work site will be maintained. Also, please look out for changes in traffic management and follow signs on site.

A 30kph speed limit will be in place.

Driveway access

Access to properties will be maintained. However, we may need to work in front of driveways from time to time. If you need to get into or out of your property and we are in the way, please just talk to one of our friendly staff and we will make sure you can use your driveway.

We’re sorry for any disruption and thank you for your patience.
