University of Canterbury's 150th celebrations come to Mid Canterbury

The University of Canterbury is coming to the Ashburton District as part of a travelling exhibition to celebrate 150 years in the business of education.
Events to celebrate the university’s history and current research and innovation are happening throughout the year, and include a 150th photo board travelling exhibition in August and September.
The exhibition will be at the Mt Hutt Memorial Hall in Methven from 11-19 September, and in the Ashburton Arcade from 19-29 September. A morning tea to mark the opening Mid Canterbury leg of the tour will be held at the Mt Hutt Memorial Hall at 11am.
The exhibition is about showcasing and celebrating the university’s impact over the years, and about building new relationships by inviting people in the Ashburton District to come along to an birthday event.
Other events this year include an exhibition at the Arts Centre in Christchurch where artefacts and archives from the university’s collection will be on display, a leadership evening featuring UC Alumnus Greg Davidson, Group Chief Executive of the tech company Datacom, a history book launch, a concert and a alumni and friends open weekend, where former students can come back to the campus.
