Portaloos for Hinds Domain while public toilets repaired

Portaloos are on their way to the Hinds Domain after the Council had to close the public toilets there again because of a malfunction in the waste disposal system connected to the public conveniences.
Infrastructure and Open Spaces Neil McCann said the toilets, just off State Highway 1 at Hinds, were always busy and well used by truckies and tourists.
“Unfortunately their high use means that we get a lot of things flushed down them that we shouldn’t, like wet wipes. This has led to problems in the past and is what has likely caused the closure this time.
“The good news is that we are investigating an alternative waste disposal system but until we can get the toilet block working again properly, we will have portaloos in place.”
