Shutdowns planned for work on Methven Springfield water supply

Shutdowns are scheduled for the Methven Springfield rural water supply on 15 and 17 August for work needed before the supply is connected to the new Methven membrane water treatment plant.
The supply will be shut down from 1pm-5pm on Tuesday 15 August and from 9am-1pm on Thursday 17 August.
The Methven water supply will not be affected.
Council contractor ACL will install valves on the Methven Springfield supply as part of the work to integrate the supply into the new Methven plant. Commissioning of the $10 million plant is under way and it should be operating by mid-September, treating water for both the Methven and Methven Springfield water supplies.
Infrastructure and Open Spaces Group Manager Neil McCann said most properties on the Methven Springfield supply had water storage tanks so should be able to maintain water during the planned shutdown.
“A further shutdown on the supply will be needed on the day it is connected to the new membrane treatment plant, and we will let property owners know that date closer to the time.”
