Five new time-restricted parks for Methven Mall

Five carparks in front of Supervalue in the Methven Mall will move to 30-minute parking restrictions by the end of July.
Contractors working for Council will install the parking signs following a decision by councillors this week to go with a recommendation from the Methven Community Board to restrict parking at five of the 15 right-angle parks in the mall.
The community board had previously discussed time restricted parking because at times there is a shortage of parks available for supermarket customers due to some vehicles parking for extended periods of time.
Property owners and businesses in the Methven Mall were consulted, with both support and opposition to time restricted parking.
Compliance and Development Group Manager Jane Donaldson said signs had been ordered and Council’s contractor would install the ground sockets and aluminum poles by the end of July.
“This is a compromise to a parking problem in the mall where a variety of businesses operate with different parking needs. It will provide dedicated parks for people popping into the supermarket, as well as plenty of other parks for those stopping longer.”
