One of the final pieces of work on Ashburton’s new library and civic centre was hoisted into place yesterday, when the district’s crest (or coat of arms) was installed on the exterior of the building.
Five community meetings, three sausage sizzles and 12 presentations to community groups are included in a wide-ranging public consultation programme to help gather feedback on the draft Long Term Plan 2024-34.
You’ll be hearing and seeing a lot about our Long Term Plan over the next six weeks, because it sets the scene for Council services and projects in the next 10 years.

A chunk of Ashburton’s drinking water history was dismantled recently when 132 metres of steel pipe and eight supporting concrete piers were removed from the north branch of the Ashburton River, near Melrose Road.
