Road works in various parts of Tinwald may cause traffic disruption over the next few weeks, so drivers should allow extra time on their journeys.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is doing work on State Highway 1, and Council is doing work on Catherine Street.

NZTA is repairing the asphalt surface on State Highway 1, between Carters Terrace and Manchester Street, from Sunday 15 February. The work will take up to 10 nights, and is weather dependent, with crews working Sunday to Thursday nights, from 7pm to 5am.

Contractors will be milling and paving the new asphalt surface, and temporary speed restrictions will be in place. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with temporary traffic lights.

During the night work, access to the State Highway from side streets in Tinwald will be closed, as the contractors will be milling and paving through the intersections. Traffic management signs will be in place.

The State Highway and side road intersections will be open each day from 5am and will remain open until the next night shift. The temporary speed limits will apply through the worksite day and night.

Contractors working for NZTA are also planning repairs on State Highway 1 between Maronan Road and Winslow Westerfield Road between 27 February and 16 March. During the day, northbound traffic will be detoured, so please allow extra time.

A night-time closure of the SH1/Winslow Westerfield Road intersection is also planned for Sunday 22 February and detours will be in place.

NZTA has further plans to resurface the State Highway between Graham Street and Hassal Street, some time in March.

In Tinwald township, Catherine Street will be closed between Ashbury Grove and McMurdo Street from Monday 16 February to Friday 20 March while new wastewater pipes are installed. The work will include traffic management, trenching and pipe-laying.

Resident access will be maintained.
