Vehicle access to jumping platform to be restricted

Vehicle access to the jumping platform at Lake Hood will be restricted in the evenings and overnight in an attempt to curb unsafe behaviour and damage at the lake reserve.
Council Group Manager of Infrastructure and Open Spaces Neil McCann said the platform was proving to be a popular attraction but in recent weeks Council had been fielding complaints about anti-social behaviour.
“People are reporting vehicles being driven dangerously on the grass area and damage has been noted. We hope it’s a temporary measure, so from today we’re going to be chaining off vehicle access to the platform from 5pm and then opening it up at 8am the next morning.
“There’s plenty of room for those using the jumping platform after 5pm to park their cars off the main lake road and walk the short distance.”
The aquatic park is a popular spot for walkers and cyclists, as well as those using the water for recreation.
