Cordons Lifted Following Removal of Dangerous Items

Cordons have been lifted and it's now safe for residents to return to their homes in the Elizabeth Street, Allenton area.
The New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were called earlier in the day by New Zealand Police and suspected unexploded ordnance has been removed from a residential property on Elizabeth Street for safe disposal.

Earlier today, New Zealand Police evacuated people from an area around Elizabeth Street, Allenton following a report of an item resembling unexploded ordnance.
Police cordoned the area and evacuated nearby properties, asking members of the public to avoid the area while the incident was resolved by the New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.
