Rakaia drinking water upgrades starting this month

UPDATE: The scheduled water upgrades have been postponed from Thursday 29 October until April 2021
Rakaia residents are being urged to conserve their water as much as possible for approximately eight hours overnight on 29 October, as the Council works to upgrade the town's drinking water service.
Ashburton Contracting Ltd (ACL) will be raising Rakaia's water bore head above ground as part of district-wide water supply upgrades. This requires the water bore to be switched off for a number of hours, meaning that although residents will still have access to drinking water, it is essential that this use is minimised as much as possible.
The work is programmed to be carried out over 6-8 hours from 5.30pm on Thursday 29 October, 2020.
The actual length of the shutdown may be subject to change, depending on the conditions encountered on the night.
