Improvements being made to Tinwald intersection
Published: 20 May 2020

Road construction improvements got underway on the Maronan Road, Melcombe Street, Shearman Street and Hendersons Road intersection last week.

The intersection is currently the site of a reconstruction which aims to improve stormwater drainage from the road surface ahead of winter. Contractors installed kerb and channels on the inside of the curves earlier this week to help with drainage.
As part of the work, the road seals will be widened at the inside of the corners to enhance accessibility for heavy vehicles that frequent the intersection, reducing seal edge breakage and shoulder damage. A final layer of asphalt will then be applied on Friday 22 May to provide extra strength to the road surface.

Road line markings, signs and traffic islands will be installed early next week.
Work is not impacting access to businesses on Melcombe Street and Shearman Street, with access available from Laghmor Road. Businesses on Maronan Road have accessibility via Thews Road
