Published: 3 December 2020

Baring Square East will be filled with food and films on Friday 11 December as Movie Night, presented by More FM gets underway.

Families will be treated to a magical Christmas experience in front of the big screen with two short films starting at 6.15 pm - Kung Fu Panda Holiday and Olaf's Frozen Adventures before the main feature film of the night, The Polar Express starts at 7.30 pm.

Delicious treats will be available from The Rollin Pedlar, Exotic Candy Straps, Nigendys, Indian Minar, Loren’s Coffee Cart and Mr Kool Ice Creams; moviegoers are encouraged to bring along their chairs and blankets to complete the outdoor experience.

Movie Night is the third event in the Council's month-long Nights of Lights festival, which has also included Light Up the Night, Buskers Night and the Festive Walk along the East Street green.

Ashburton District Mayor Neil Brown says with the pleasant summer conditions, Movie Night will be a fun and relaxing novelty for families in the lead up to Christmas.

"We are so pleased to be working with our main sponsor, More FM to bring residents this free event. It will be a great bit of family fun to relax in front of the big screen and enjoy some holiday favourites.

"Really get into the spirit of things by coming along in your best Christmas-themed outfit or dress your favourite toy and bring them along too," he adds.

Movie Night, presented by More FM starts at 6 pm in Baring Square East on 11 December, with the first film beginning at 6.15 pm.
