External painting to start on Ashburton Art Gallery and Heritage Centre

Parts of the Ashburton Art Gallery & Heritage Centre will be repainted from today, as the Council undertakes some remedial works on the building.
Scaffolding will be set up along the southern and north-east exterior walls today, Friday 9 October to allow for light cleaning before painting begins on Monday 12 October.
The painting is part of a suite of remedial works the Council has planned for the building to fix intermittent water leak issues that have been discovered.
Council Chief Executive Hamish Riach says, "With the warmer spring weather, we now have better conditions to carry out the painting and we are pleased to be making further progress on ensuring the building is operating as it should."
Other repairs include inspecting and repairing the roof membrane, and installing new heating and ventilation equipment including the installation of buffer tanks.
