Dates announced for Domain Development consultation and Speed Limit Review hearing

The Ashburton District Council has today announced the new hearing date for the district's Speed Limit Review as well as the new closing date for submissions on the draft Ashburton Domain Development Plan, after the two consultations were impacted by the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Residents who wished to speak to their submission on the Speed Limit Review are being invited to the hearing being held on Monday 22 June. Meanwhile, those who want to provide feedback on the proposed developments to the Ashburton Domain now have until Sunday 5 July to have their say.
Residents speaking at the Speed Limit Review hearing on Monday are being contacted by the Council to confirm the new date.
The Council was forced to postpone the consultations when the country went into Alert Level Four lockdown in March, and Mayor Neil Brown says he's pleased the process can now pick up where it left off.
"These two projects are particularly important for our district, and it's crucial that we are getting as much feedback as possible to ensure we are on the right track."
Before the lockdowns, the Speed Limit Review hearing was expected to be held on 2 April, and feedback on the draft Ashburton Domain Development Plan was originally scheduled to finish on 5 April.
Council opted to extend the Ashburton Domain consultation right through the lockdown until a new closing date could be selected. To date, 113 submissions have been made on the proposals.
"This new closing date is your last chance to make your voice heard. Whether you play sport in the Ashburton Domain, take your kids to the playground, like to enjoy the gardens or are simply interested in how it will serve and enhance our community over the next 30 years, we want to hear from you," Mayor Brown added.
A summary video of the proposed changes to the Domain is available on the Council's Facebook page and YouTube channel.
