The Council's $15 million upgrades to the Ashburton CBD streetscape are approaching completion on Cass Street, and from next Monday (5 October) work will begin on Tancred Street.

People heading into the Ashburton CBD on Monday 28 September are being advised to check which roads and access-ways will be available while East Street is closed for the Midtown Mardi Gras event.

East Street (from Havelock Street to Moore Street) will be closed to traffic on Monday from 7am to 6pm for the event, which will restrict access around Burnett and Tancred Streets.

The global markets that process New Zealand's plastics have changed​ and that means that from 1 August 2020 our recycling habits need to change.

In addition to clean tins, cans, paper and magazines, make sure only hard rigid plastic grades 1, 2 and 5 are put into your yellow recycling bin (without the lids). All other plastics including grades 3, 4, 6, 7, those without a grade, plastic lids and all soft plastics such as cling wrap and bread bags go in the rubbish.
