Arborists will begin removing the ash trees along Morgan Street in Methven from Monday 5 May, as the trees have become unhealthy and are deteriorating.

Today, representatives from the Ashburton RSA, New Zealand military and Ashburton District Mayor Neil Brown honoured the lives of those who have served the nation in the armed forces by laying wreaths at the Ashburton cenotaph. This was the first year usual Anzac Day services were not held on 25 April due to the COVID-19 lockdown, but the small ceremony held today under Level 3 restrictions helped show the district’s respect for those who have fought and lost their lives in various wars and conflicts. Lest we forget.​
