Festival of Lifelong Learning

About the event

Are you ...

  • looking to upskill for work?
  • wanting to explore a new (or first) career?
  • interested in picking up a hobby?
  • thinking about getting your license or learning other life skills?
  • wanting to keep busy in retirement?
  • keen to try something new, connect with others and have some 'you time'?

Well we have just the event for you!

The Lifelong Learning Festival is a celebration of all the opportunities there are in our district to learn. This festival has two main parts:

  1. An event programme of speakers, demonstrations and performances. The details of the programme will be shared closer to the time. Click 'get the programme' to have this emailed to you once it's finalised.
  2. Hands on, interactive experiences from providers of learning of all sorts... community education, tertiary providers, apprenticeships, clubs and groups - there are a lot of options out there for adults of all ages!

And because it's a celebration we also have:

  • FREE FOOD! The Local Lions club will be on hand with their sausage sizzle
  • FREE CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES and competitions to keep them busy while you enjoy the festival
  • SCAVENGER HUNT to complete
  • PRIZE DRAW

This event is taking place during Adult Learners' Week Festival of Adult Learning Ahurei Ākonga. It is organised by Keep Learning Mid Canterbury and the Ashburton Library. Many learning providers, clubs and groups will be showcasing the opportunities for learning that they offer, through interactive activities, talks, demonstrations or performances.

The festival is organised by the community for the community so we hope you'll join us on Tuesday September 9th to experience it.

Note: You don't need to book/ get tickets to attend - you can just show up on the day. But if you would like us to email the festival programme when it is finalised, and a reminder about the event, then click 'get the programme'.
