Account2Account online payment
Account2Account is a secure online service which allows you to make a payment without the need to enter credit/debit card details.
- Pay online using your bank account details from the Council website
- No need for credit/debit cards
- Pay for multiple items with the one transaction by adding items to your 'shopping cart'
Note: Account2Account is supported by ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, TSB and Westpac banks. Customers with other banks will not be able to use Account2Account.

Direct debits can be made weekly, fortnightly, bi-monthly or monthly to suit your budget
Payment amounts are adjusted automatically if your rates change
We will let you know in advance of any change
You receive your rates invoice for your records
Setting up Rates Payment by Direct Debit

You can transfer payment from your bank account to ours by transactions such as a bill payment, direct credit or automatic payment
If you set up a regular or reoccurring automatic payment, you will need to change the payment amount if it changes
It is essential that you include the required information in the 'Particulars', 'Code' and 'Reference' columns when you make a payment. Without this information we may not be able to allocate your money to your outstanding payment – which could result in unnecessary problems and delays
How to set up a bank transfer correctly
Enter the correct information in each of the 3 fields your bank provides for you; 'Particulars', 'Code', and 'Reference'

You can visit the council to make a payment by cash, cheque, credit card or eftpos at Ashburton District Council office, 5 Baring Square West, Ashburton.
By post
Council needs the details of what the payment is for otherwise we may not be able to allocate it correctly.
You should either:
Include a copy of the ticket(s) and/or invoice(s) with your cheque (preferred option), or
Clearly write the following details:
What the payment is for (e.g.: Rates, or Infringement or Rates and debtor)
Owner Name (may not necessarily be the cheque payers name)
Reference Number as printed on the ticket/invoice
Receipts will not be issued for cheques received unless requested.
Please do not post cash.
