Behind the Scenes

Here at the Ashburton Domain, staff work hard to keep the district looking neat and tidy and all work around the district is completed in-house.

Our nursery staff produce bedding plants twice a year for our annual flower beds. That's over 60,000 plants each year!  Each flower bed is designed especially for the season.

Staff also keep the town tidy, mowing grassed areas, keeping borders clean from weeds and making sure the hedges and trees are trimmed.

The Open Spaces staff have competed for the last four years at the Ellerslie Flower Show in Christchurch, a competition to produce a flower bed that represents each team's district, winning numerous medals.
