What's in store

The inaugural Ashburton Employment Exchange will be a unique networking and training opportunity for those looking to enter the workforce or change direction. It is intended to help people who may have found it challenging to enter the workforce or who want to move in another direction to connect with employers with the hope to gain work experience or a permanent position.

Local employers seeking additional people to join their teams, either now or in the future, will gain insight into a wider range of job-seekers and the funding support programmes available to them, as well as receiving an employment law and visa update. Whether or not they make a direct connection with a job-seeker on the day, employers will gain invaluable knowledge from industry professionals, widen their recruitment pool, and learn how they can make a difference in the community.

Guest speakers to feature at the Ashburton Employment Exchange include:

  • Immigration NZ
  • Canterbury Employers' Chamber of Commerce
  • Ministry of Social Development
  • Department of Corrections
  • Local businesses
This free event includes morning tea for attendees. Free parking is available from the entrance off Cass Street. Thanks to Eastfields.

Interested employers and job-seekers can register now for the Ashburton Employment Exchange until 5pm, 13 September.
