The Council currently has residential sections for sale in two innovative developments; Huntingdon Estate (Lake Hood) and Geoff Geering Drive (Ashburton).

Geoff Geering Drive – Hampstead, Ashburton

Conveniently located a 5 minute drive east of the Ashburton town centre Geoff Geering Drive is a 2 stage residential subdivision. The development has been undertaken by Council to provide affordable sections and eco-friendly housing.

All sections of Stage 1 have been sold and Stage 2 is currently in the planning and consenting phase and will feature a further 30 sections. ​More information will be updated on this page as soon as it is available.

All sections are subject to covenants to promote quality housing and environmental sustainability. Covenant requirements include;

  • Commencing construction within 12 months of purchasing the section.
  • Homes to have a minimum of two bedrooms.
  • Homes to have solar power or geothermal hot water system.
  • Homes to have onsite water storage of at least 5,000 litres.

Huntingdon Estate - Lake Hood

Located just 5 km east of Ashburton, the Huntingdon Estate residential development is part of the Lake Hood Aquatic Park. Lake Hood is the largest lake on the Canterbury plains and offers a range of water sports and activities right on your door-step.

Council has a number of sections in the Lake Hood development ranging in size from 817m2 to 1,920m2.  Sections include both water front and standard sections with prices between $155,000 and $222,000.
