Following the installation of a replacement chiller and serviced compressor units at the new Ashburton Art Gallery on 16 March, Council is pleased to report that the first week of temperature and humidity reading are showing positive results.
Commercial Manager James Webb says "with these early indications I am hopeful we should have enough data to confirm a stable air environment for the Art Gallery very soon."
Commissioning of the replacement air conditioning system in the Art Gallery started on Monday 23 March.
While there were some expected fluctuations during the first few days, the air conditioning system is performing well.
The formal commissioning period will continue for at least another full week until Easter.
After this period, the air conditioning system will still be continually monitored by staff on-site and also by consultant engineers off-site in Christchurch.
The Building Management System (BMS) allows engineers to adjust and control the building's air conditioning performance remotely.
