Time is running out for residents to apply for a rates rebate.
Homeowners who have not applied for a rates rebate this financial year (since 1 July 2014) need to make an appointment with the Ashburton District Council before Tuesday 30 June to apply for a reduction in their rates bill.
Residents may be eligible for a rebate of up to $605 if their income is less than $24,250 per year. Even if a person's income exceeds this threshold, they may still be eligible, depending on the cost of their rates and if they have children living at home.
People can check if they are eligible using the online calculator. Rates amounts can be found using the Council's online rating search.

The rates rebate scheme is run by the Department of Internal Affairs and provides a subsidy to low-income homeowners on the cost of their rates.
