Ashburton District Council, through their contractor ACL will be temporarily closing a section of Oak Grove from Tuesday 24 January until Thursday 26 January to renew sewer mains.
The north-bound lane of Oak Grove from Elizabeth Street to the Harrison Street roundabout in Ashburton will be closed for maintenance, and a detour will be in place.
"The work on Oak Grove is part of Council's ongoing programme to renew Ashburton's sewer mains. The mains being replaced have reached the end of their serviceable life and have to be replaced to ensure the correct functioning of the network," Council Assets Manager Andrew Guthrie says.
Residents along Oak Grove affected by the works will be able to access their properties throughout the three-day maintenance, and traffic will be diverted via Elizabeth Street, Cross Street and Harrison Street.
"Council greatly appreciates the community's understanding and cooperation during this time, and we hope this work doesn't cause too much disruption for anyone," Mr Guthrie adds.
