On the 22 August, Methven will be accredited as motorhome friendly town by the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association (NZMCA).
With its ability to see and be part of the scenic sights of our country, travelling by motorhome is becoming increasingly popular in New Zealand.
NZMCA has over 53,000-plus members and Methven will be the third motorhome friendly town in the South Island.
Mayor Angus McKay says "Motorhome users are an important and growing part of our visitor make up and it's great to have Methven receive this sort of recognition."
"Methven is the perfect place for motor homes. It's surrounded by braided rivers, backcountry lakes and is the foothills of the Southern Alps – perfect locations to experience and be part of our scenic landscapes." he said.
Nigel Birt of Experience Mid-Canterbury is excited about the launch.
"As the motor home traveller market steadily grows it is a clear natural fit with Methven and the goals of Experience Mid Canterbury Tourism. Methven has a great variety of cafes and restaurants, purpose built amenities and a huge range of outdoor activities. This makes the town a complete package and beautiful destination for motor home owners," said Mr Birt.
The Mayor will accept the accreditation on behalf of the community and anyone is welcome to join in the ceremony.
