Mid-Winter Burty Challenge

Looking for fun activities for the kids these holidays? There's a new challenge in town that aims to get young people out and about and having fun. Rug-up because it's called the 'Mid-Winter Burty Challenge'.

The Burty Challenge invites kids to complete a mission to collect stamps or answer a question at four Council facilities, the Ashburton Museum, Ashburton Library, Ashburton Domain and EA Networks Centre. Stamps and answers are added to the special Mid-Winter Burty Challenge passport.

Each of the four facilities has a special activity planned. Visit Ashburton Museum to follow a trail, or design a beanie you can take home. Drop into one of the Library's activity sessions, on Monday, Wednesday or Friday of the holidays between 10:30am-11:30am. Run round the Ashburton Domain and find the answer to a puzzling question. Use the card to get a 2 for 1 pass for kids at EA Networks. Once all four activities are completed, the cards go in the draw for a cool prize – a mix of vouchers and goodies to keep kids busy throughout the year.

Ashburton Museum director Tanya Robinson said "This is a fun way to get out of the house these holidays. When the weather is cold it's easy to hunker down inside. So we're encouraging families and kids to get out and make the most of Ashburton's fabulous facilities and experiences."

This Ashburton wide challenge is a group project across four Ashburton District Council's departments in Council's Service Delivery Group, who have been working together on this fun challenge for busy kids these holidays.

The challenge runs all holidays 7-22 July. Mid-Winter Burty Challenge cards can be collected at the Ashburton Museum, Library EA Networks Centre or Council's reception. Completed cards can also be dropped back to these locations, ready for the draw.
