Ashburton District Council has
lifted the precautionary boil water notice in place for the Methven water
The quality of the Methven
water has returned to normal and no contamination has been detected. Monitoring
equipment detected high turbidity (cloudiness) in the water supply on 12
January. Turbidity lowers the effectiveness of water treatment equipment and Council
issued the notice as a precautionary measure.
A precautionary boil water
notice remains in place for the Montalto supply, which was put on a notice due
to turbidity levels on 6 January. Council is reminding residents connected to
this scheme to continue boiling their drinking water, and water used in food
preparation and for hygiene purposes for at least three minutes before
The Montalto notice will
remain in place until further advised.
