Lend a hand at Ashburton's Clean Up Day

Being a tidy Kiwi is a much-valued tradition in New Zealand, and this week, Ashburton District residents are invited to help keep their patch of Aotearoa looking beautiful at the district's own G.J Gardner Homes Clean Up Day.

Keep New Zealand Beautiful's Clean Up Week is happening from 9-15 September, and here in Ashburton, the community are able to get in early and support the initiative on Saturday 7 September from 10am - 1pm.

Bags and gloves will be provided to helpers to pick up litter, and all rubbish collected will be taken away by the Ashburton District Council. Recycling will also be processed as normal.

Eco Educate's Lesley Ottey will be on hand helping on the day, as will Litter Free Ashburton volunteers who regularly patrol Ashburton's streets picking up litter and keeping the town looking spic and span.

Residents are encouraged to get their friends and family together to put their support behind the national litter-free initiative.

To get involved, simply head to the West Street carpark, Ashburton at 10am on Saturday 7 September.
