Ashburton District Mayor Donna Favel is reminding anyone who hasn’t yet had their say on what will happen in the district over the next 10 years to get their feedback in before consultation closes early next week.

The Council is accepting feedback on its draft Long-Term Plan (LTP) until 5.00pm on Monday 14 May, with submissions being sought on five key issues facing the district: Our Roading Network; Our Transportation – Second Urban Bridge; Our Water – Future Planning; Our Recreation – EA Networks Centre Development; and Our Economy – Economic Development Strategy.

“The draft LTP is our vision for the future of Our Place, and we need to make sure that we are on the right track before the final plan is adopted in June,” Mayor Favel says. “This plan sets out what projects, services and activities we will provide and how they will be paid for, so it’s crucial that the community has a voice and tells us what they think of the proposals.

“If you haven’t made a submission yet, I urge you to take a look through the ‘Our Place – Our Plan’ consultation document and give us your feedback on these important issues. Thank you everyone who has already made their submission. We’ll be able to consider this feedback and, if needed, make adjustments to the plan before it’s adopted.”

People can have their say on the draft LTP by picking up a consultation document at the Council office, 5 Baring Square West, Ashburton, or by heading online to
