Ashburton District's youngest residents will be putting their swimming, cycling and running skills to the test this Sunday 12 March when the EA Networks Centre's Kids Duathlon and Triathlon kicks off.

Kids aged five to 13 are invited to enter either the duathlon or triathlon, with the first race kicking off at 8.00am Sunday morning.

"Competitions like this are great fun for kids to get involved in and gives them the opportunity to improve their skills. We'd love to see as many kids as possible getting out there and having a go," Sports Facility Assistant Manager Richard Wood says.

Kids aged five to six will complete a 250 metre run, a one kilometre bike ride, followed by another 250 metre run. Kids aged seven and above will swim at least 25 metres, bike 2.5 kilometres and finish a one kilometre run. 11 to 13 year olds will complete a 1.5 kilometre run.

Spot prizes will be handed out and every participant will receive a certificate to commemorate their efforts.

Entry is $25.00 per child. To enter, visit the EA Networks Centre reception, 20 River Terrace, Ashburton.
