It's that time of the year again when dogs around the district need to be registered and Council is encouraging residents to re-register their dog online.
There are over 7,000 dogs in the district and all dogs aged three months are required to be registered.
Animal Control Officer Andrea McMurray says "To avoid delays, we recommend residents re-register their dog online."
"It is a simple and easy process. Just enter your dog number and make your payment. Your dog tags will then be sent to you by mail," said Ms McMurray.
Currently any new dogs or changes to contact information and other details have to be completed at the Ashburton District Council office.
"We are progressively introducing further online services and expect to be providing new dog registration online in the near future." she said.
Dog registrations start 1 July 2014. Owners who have not re-registered their dog by the end of July face penalty fees on top of the registration fee.
