Ashburton District Council has today announced the appointment of Logic Group as the project manager for the Council library and administration building project.

Council received 11 tenders through an open tender process which were evaluated by the Administration and Library Project Control Group. Of those, three were short-listed and invited to present to Council last month.

Mayor Donna Favel says, during the evaluation process Logic Group was identified as the stand out proposal.

“We’re excited to see continued progress in the plans for the library and administration building,” she said. “This is a major project in Ashburton District’s Long Term Plan and the Council has taken time and care to appoint the best possible candidate to manage this development.”

Logic Group will manage and oversee the total development of the building including design engagement, construction engagement, and supervision, until its completion and handover. Logic Group spokesperson Shaun Pont said, “We are extremely pleased to be a part of the Council team to deliver this important community project”.

The library and administration building will be located at Baring Square East, where the former County Council building sits. The development will also encompass the current Paul May Motors site and the hall and carpark alongside the Methodist Church. Council announced in December last year that it had also purchased 255 Havelock St as an investment and to further futureproof the Baring Square East site.
