Dog owners using the Ashburton Dog Park will have constant access to water for their thirsty pets following the recent installation of a new self-filling water trough.
Environmental Services Group Manager Jane Donaldson says the new addition was made in response to community concerns about the park's lack of water.
"Council received feedback from the community about water availability in the dog park. With the help of locals, we were able to locate the water pipe and have since built a concrete trough at the far end of the park."
"This project has been possible thanks largely to a neighbouring landowner who has allowed the Dog Park water to be sourced from his own water supply. We are very grateful for his generosity."
Water access at the Ashburton Dog Park was one of the main issues commented on during a review of Ashburton District Council's Dog Control Policy and Bylaw.
