Ashburton District's weeds being sprayed

Work is already underway to help keep the weeds growing in Ashburton District's public spaces under control.

Council's contractor, Fulton Hogan, has been out and about in Rakaia in the past week dealing with the unwelcome weeds.  Over the next fortnight the contractor will tackle weeds in Ashburton township, then the following week spraying will take place in Tinwald and Methven.

Contracts Manager Brian Fauth says Fulton Hogan will be spraying weeds on footpaths, kerb and channel, as well as traffic islands and various other public space areas.

"With the onset of some warmer weather we knew weeds would start growing around the streets and gutters quite quickly, so Fulton Hogan is out there at the moment addressing the problem" he said.

Mr Fauth also says if people are concerned and would prefer the contractor does not spray outside their property, could they please let Council know at and the contractor will be notified.
