Statistics NZ is currently carrying out a public consultation about the content of the 2018 Census.
It is the first time Statistics NZ has looked at making significant changes to census content since 2001 and has been engaging online with the public about the census through blog forums. The changes are happening as it is critical the New Zealand Census reflects real world change and maintains relevance for modern society.
Ashburton District Council is one of many organisations around the country taking part in this important opportunity, and is encouraging people in the community to also have their say and help shape the future content of the census.
Information captured is vital for Council, providing important insights and details about people in the district. This forms the basis of planning for services and facilities Council will need to provide in the future.
Statistics NZ's online public discussion is live until 10 June and the formal submission period will be open until 30 June.
