Young people are being reminded of this Wednesday's launch of the 'Weird and Wonderful Ways to Waste Time' map at Ashburton Domain.
The map, which highlights youth-friendly activities in the district, is being launched at 3.30pm on 25 May by the Ashburton Youth Council and Think First, with the support of radio station The Edge's Road Runners.
"We'll have a host of competitions, prizes and giveaways, with The Edge set to keep the event pumping," Youth Council member Angela Naui says. "The Edge will be bringing their games, such as Giant Jenga and Connect Four, as well as some goodies like muffins and phone charging power banks."
"We'll also be having a free sausage sizzle to help promote Youth Week and its theme of aroha mai, aroha atu – giving back is giving forward," Angela says.
The event has been organised by Ashburton Youth Council and Think First, following the development of the 'Weird and Wonderful Ways to Waste Time' map, a collection of over 100 locations and activities around the Ashburton district that local youth are encouraged to explore.
The launch will start at 3.30pm on Wednesday 25 May opposite the entrance to Ashburton College in the Ashburton Domain.
