I want to plan an event, where do I start?

Planning an event for the first time can be challenging. Ashburton District Council has produced an Event Planning Guide, and an Event Application form with information and advice on the wide rage of things you will need to consider in planning your event in the Ashburton District. You will also need to complete an Event Management Safety Plan and a Hazard and Risk Assessment for the event, these will need to be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event.

Contact Council

Depending on the nature of your event you may require licences and permits from Council.  If you plan on selling food at the event, you will need a licence.

If your event is happening on a street it will legally require traffic management and a road closure. We can help guide you through the requirements of securing the necessary licenses and permits.
