New Service at Ashburton Resource Recovery Park
Agriculture and Forestry Plastic Containers Drop-Off Facility

As from 7 April 2007, on the first Saturday of each month, tripled rinsed agriculture and forestry sector plastic chemical containers will be accepted between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm at the Ashburton Resource Recovery Park.

Containers must:

  • Be those of participating Agrecovery Brand Owners
  • Be 60 litres or smaller
  • Be triple rinsed
  • Be free from all residue, liquid and dry
  • Have the product label intact and legible
  • Be brought in and inspected during operational hours

Any containers that do not meet this criteria will be rejected, NO EXCEPTIONS. Container caps are not accepted.

Please contact the Ashburton District Council for a list of participating brand owners.

Triple rinsing is essential to the success of the programme. This is due to the potentially hazardous nature of the chemicals.

For more information on this service please check the website www.agrecovery.co.nz or contact the Ashburton District Council on 307 7700.

This programme is being introduced nationally from April 2007. It will ensure that the reprocessed plastic goes into applications that reflect the quality of the collected plastic. Potential applications include:

  • Drainage pipes and fittings
  • Culvert pipe
  • Cable cover
  • Plastic sheeting
  • Lighting and fence posts

Look out for the Agrecovery logo on chemical containers
